Comics Without Borders Festival
SALON INTERNATIONAL DE LA BANDE DESSINÉE
The Comics Without Borders Festival 2026, held in Ho Chi Minh City, concluded with strong public engagement and a vibrant celebration of comic art across cultures. Among the participating studios, Light Comic Studio made a notable impression, connecting directly with readers and industry peers throughout the event.
One of the highlights for the studio was the overwhelming support from attendees, with all printed comic titles sold out during the festival. The strong response reflects a growing interest in locally produced comics, as well as the increasing visibility of Vietnamese creators in the regional scene.

At the event, Light Comic Studio introduced a selection of its award-winning short stories, alongside IPs-inspired merchandise. Artist Luong Minh Quang, known for his work on the horror series 13 A.M., was present to meet readers, sign books, and share insights into the creative process behind the studio’s projects.

The festival was organized by Institut français in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) in collaboration with the Embassy of France, the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation, the Lân Tinh Foundation, and various Vietnamese publishing and media partners. It brought together artists and publishers from France, Belgium, Vietnam, and Cambodia, offering a diverse program of exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions, and signing sessions.
In his remarks, French Consul General Etienne Ranaivoson emphasized the importance of cultural collaboration, highlighting comics as a powerful medium that connects communities and fosters creativity across borders. The event also underscored France’s ongoing support for the development of Vietnam’s cultural and creative industries.

As the first Francophone comics festival held in Ho Chi Minh City, the event marked an important milestone, showcasing both international influences and the dynamic growth of Vietnam’s comic scene.
For Light Comic Studio, the festival was not only an opportunity to present its work, but also a meaningful moment of exchange with readers and fellow creators. The studio expressed its appreciation to all visitors and partners, and looks forward to participating in future events.
